GDPR Art. 17 — Right to Erasure
You can delete your Paperclip account at any time, either from within the App or by
contacting us directly. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Option 1: Delete from the App

Open Settings
Tap the settings icon (gear) on the top-right corner of the Home screen.

Scroll to the bottom
At the bottom of the Settings screen, tap "Delete Account".

Confirm deletion
You will be asked to confirm twice. This is a safeguard — once confirmed,
deletion is immediate and irreversible.
Option 2: Delete by Email
If you are unable to access the App, you can request account deletion by emailing us at
contact@paperclip-trades.com from the email
address associated with your account. Include your username and a request to delete your
account. We will process your request within 30 days.
What Gets Deleted
When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently removed from our systems in a single cascading operation:
- Your profile — name, username, email, date of birth, profile picture, location, and all account settings
- Your items — all item listings and their associated images (removed from Cloudinary)
- Your swipes — all like/pass history
- Your trade offers — all pending and past trade proposals
- Your matches — all match records including chat messages
- Your device push tokens — all registered notification tokens
⚠ Exception — Safety reports: If a safety report was generated involving
your account (because you or another user triggered a block during an active match), the
report snapshot may be retained after account deletion. This is necessary for safeguarding,
legal compliance, and the protection of other users — particularly minors. Safety reports
are never publicly accessible and are stored securely for manual review only.
Things to Know Before Deleting
- If you have an active trade (status: confirmed), your trading partner will see the match as cancelled. Consider concluding or cancelling active trades first.
- Deletion is immediate when done from the App — there is no grace period or cooling-off window.
- Anonymised, aggregated analytics data (which cannot identify you) may be retained to improve the service.
- You are free to create a new account after deletion, but none of your previous data will be recoverable.
